Dreamhost, HostGator and Bluehost have all maintained 100 percent uptime over consecutive months, according to our latest Web Host Rankings for August 2018.

The full results for August 2018 are available below and web host rankings reports are also available for MarchApril, May, June and July.

Bluehost is the biggest winner and has maintained 100 percent uptime over the last four months. Its achievement equals that of GoDaddy, which achieved the same feat between February and May of this year.

However, the current record is held by FatCow, which earlier this year managed to maintain uptime of 100 percent over six consecutive months (January to July 2018).

HostGator is the best performing host overall for August – it maintained an average uptime of 100 percent and a server response time of 398ms.

Hostinger is second for server response time while Bluehost is third. GoDaddy and iPage also maintained 100 percent uptime in August.

Each web host in the web host rankings is subject to minute-by-minute performance monitoring.

Uptime is a measure of the availability of a web server over a given period of time. Server response time is a metric that indicates the time it takes a browser to download the first byte of data, often referred to as time-to-first-byte (TTFB), as well as the time it takes to parse HTML and retrieve headers.

Uptime and response time are two metrics to evaluate the performance of a web host; however, buying decisions shouldn’t be made upon analysis of these metrics alone.

It’s also important to consider the many variables that can affect uptime, including scheduled maintenance.

InMotion performed poorest overall for August 2018 and recorded an uptime of 98.40 percent, which is equivalent to 11 hours and 40 minutes of downtime.

GreenGeeks also had a relatively poor month; despite maintaining 100 percent uptime in July, it posted an uptime of 99.63 percent for August.
